Its name, which leaves little to the imagination, mirrors the striking design. Tortello is made up of several unexpected elements. The base structure, shaped like a tray with a trapezoidal base, is crafted from rotationally molded recycled polyethylene. This is topped with an elastomer mattress, upon which sits a foamed upper section— a soft, fabric-covered volume with a distinctive profile, highlighted by its 'pinched' stitching.
Tortello features responsible manufacturing, utilizing cutting-edge technologies and high-quality materials. Circularity and recycling are core principles of this collection, beginning with the second-life polyethylene structure and incorporating polyurethane foam and thermoplastic elastomers to define its shape and comfort. Despite using minimal polyurethane, the design ensures softness through thoughtful construction techniques. Furthermore, the choice of materials and assembly methods, which avoid adhesives and glues, allows Tortello to be fully disassembled for easy recycling.
