The Casablanca Bookcase by Ettore Sottsass. Its human like silhouette is coated with plastic laminate in Sottsass's 1979 spugnato (sponged) pattern, which features red shelves radiating from a column of cabinets and drawers. The angled shelves on the Casablanca, like those on the Carlton, are meant to hold wine bottles while also acting as a room divider. Although its vibrant colors and patterns go against functionalism's tenets, its base, central part, and capital are composed of Neo-Classical elements.
