The Candle Holder Philip is inspired by a pair of 17th-century Spanish candlesticks in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Closely tied to the construction of the royal monastery-palace El Escorial, this stylistic movement left a lasting imprint on European decorative arts.
