Ginza Bookcase by Masanori Umeda. This playful storage unit and bookcase, is made of lacquered wood covered with decorative laminate, chromed metal elements. The design of this storage container is a nod to the popular toys that were inspired by the mechanical men of Japanese science fiction. Ironically, the cabinet bears the name of Tokyo's most upscale shopping area. Although it has certain shelf elements, it is largely presented as a statement piece rather than a useful piece of furniture.
